In December 2022, Minneapolis Public Schools quietly brought back the Police Activities League after-school program with the Minneapolis Police Department. The PAL program ended because of city budget cuts in 2019. Then in 2020, following the murder of George Floyd, the MPS Board of Education ended its contract with MPD that hired officers to work in schools.
The PAL program is currently operating after school one day per week in four Northside elementary schools: Cityview Community School, Lucy Laney Community School, Jenny Lind Elementary, and Hall STEM Academy. The program is being led by Minneapolis Police Department Officer Krystal Scott.
